It is without a doubt that Ivan Reitman’s 80s film Ghostbusters is a pop-cultural phenomenon. The comedic action movie was set in New York City (NYC). New York City for its skyline and great buildings. However, in the film, one building was highly showcased. 55 Central Park West was a central part of the film hence giving its street name Spook Central.

55 Central Park West is located on the Upper Westside of Manhattan. The building holds apartments and living spaces. It was built-in 1929 and designed by Schwartz & Gross. The style of architecture is art deco. Art deco is a style that was prominent in the 1920s - 1930s. The style is characterised by precise geometric shapes and lines. It also uses a strong use of colours. As the building was established in the late 20s, the aged facade of the building goes along with the plot as the building gives off an eerie feeling. Taking this to his advantage, Reitman not only used the building but a character as well. This ultimately led to 55 Central Park West having its own presence is not just the movie but of all pop culture.
